Looking for IB Result Day 2026? May 2026 DP and CP results were released from 6 July 2026 at 12:00 GMT. The IB states this 6 July, 12:00 GMT candidate release rule for May sessions every year. The next upcoming published session is November 2026, with exams from October 23 to November 13 and results issued to schools on December 16.

This guide now separates completed May 2026 results from the next November session. It includes the IB’s latest May 2026 global average, official November exam and result dates, transcript rules, score interpretation, and planning for future May candidates.

Time-zone reminder: The IB publishes May-session student results from 12:00 GMT on 6 July. For a future May session, convert that to your local time. November candidate access uses a staggered schedule; ask your coordinator for your personal release time.

Next Verified IB Dates After the May 2026 Results

Updated September 25, 2026. May 2026 DP and CP results were released on July 6 and are now historical. The next published examination session is November 2026. The IB's final November schedule begins on Friday, October 23, 2026 and runs through Friday, November 13, 2026. Schools receive November results from 9:00 p.m. GMT on December 16, 2026; candidate access is staggered by time zone, so each student should use the time in their school-issued PIN report or ask the coordinator. The IB has not posted a complete May 2027 subject timetable on its public exam-schedule page at this review.

The official November 2026 PDF includes a school-based syllabus paper on October 23, then scheduled exam days on October 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30; November 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6; and November 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. These are the complete published calendar dates in that session, but a candidate's own timetable contains only the papers for their subjects and level. Ask your coordinator for your personal schedule, local morning or afternoon start time, exam zone and venue. Do not infer a subject's exact start time from a friend's school in another zone. A move or reschedule requires IB authorization.

The next transcript deadline is also time-sensitive. For November-session results, the IB says requests submitted before December 16 should go through the DP coordinator. Up to six higher education institutions worldwide can be selected at that stage, and an admissions center such as UCAS counts as one request. Once results are released, additional transcript requests remain possible through the IB service. If a university offer or enrollment step depends on a November transcript, check the institution's recipient details before asking your coordinator to submit the request.

For students preparing for a later May session, the IB's results FAQ states that May-session candidate results are released from 12:00 GMT on July 6 every year. That provides an official annual result-release rule, but a 2027 exam date should not be inferred from the 2026 subject timetable. The publicly linked schedule on the IB exam page currently ends with November 2026. Return to that source when the May 2027 PDF is published, and use the NUM8ERS international exam timetable only as a planning overview.

What the Completed May 2026 IB Session Tells Us

The IB reported that 209,607 DP and CP students worldwide received May 2026 results and that the global average Diploma Programme score was 30.88 points. This is a completed-session benchmark, not a target or prediction for an individual student. An overall average combines a wide range of subject combinations, school contexts and candidate goals. The official IB statistical bulletin for May 2026 is a better source for programme-wide detail than school rankings or unsourced “average IB score” claims.

A DP result should be read in layers. Start with the diploma award status, then the total out of 45, then each higher-level and standard-level subject, and finally the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay contribution. A total at or above 24 is not by itself proof that every diploma condition has been met. Conversely, an individual subject score can matter for a university even when the total is strong. A student with a conditional offer for a particular HL subject should compare that requirement directly with the subject grade, not only with the overall points.

The 2026 cohort also illustrates why local anecdotes can mislead. Some students in parts of the Middle East affected by regional conflict were graded under the IB's non-exam contingency measure, while most students completed the usual coursework and examination combination. That does not make one student's result directly comparable with a small online sample of a different subject mix or school. Use official statistics for broad context and your own university offer for the practical decision. Our IB score calculator can help organize a planned point total, but it cannot replace the formal IB result or predict a future grade boundary.

What to Do on November Result Day

Begin with the coordinator's instructions. The school receives November results first on December 16 from 9:00 p.m. GMT, while student access is staggered by time zone. Your candidate login may therefore not show the result at the same instant as another student in a different region. Use the individual PIN report, the Results tab in the candidate website, or a direct message from your coordinator to find the relevant access time. Do not share your personal code and PIN with a university, tutor, friend or social-media account.

If your login does not work, check the spelling and case of the personal code. The IB says the personal code is case-sensitive while the PIN is not. After three incorrect attempts, access is blocked temporarily and is restored after 30 minutes of inactivity. Avoid rapid repeated attempts. If you have lost the credentials or suspect you have the wrong set for the session, contact the school; the IB does not issue private login credentials directly to candidates. Retake candidates may have separate PINs for different sessions.

Once you can view the result, save a copy for your records and read the entire profile. Check subject grades, the total, diploma status, and whether any subject is marked pending or has no grade. The candidate site may show more detailed subject information, such as scaled mark and grade-boundary distance, if the coordinator has enabled it. If a result seems missing or inconsistent, ask the coordinator before telling a university that a score has changed. An official transcript sent by the IB, not a screenshot of the candidate page, is what many higher education institutions require.

Set a short decision sequence for the first day. First identify whether you meet every condition of an offer. Second verify whether the university has been chosen as a transcript recipient. Third, if a subject narrowly misses a condition, speak with the coordinator about an Enquiry Upon Results and contact the university about its procedure. The coordinator places an enquiry on a candidate's behalf; students and parents cannot directly order a re-mark from IB. A re-mark can leave a grade unchanged, raise it or lower it, and written consent is required because of that risk. Make the request using the official IB rules and the university's stated deadline.

Plan IB Transcript Delivery Before a University Deadline

A transcript request is separate from logging in to see results. Before the results release, the DP coordinator submits chosen university destinations to the IB. For November, the current IB guidance says this pre-release stage is before December 16; for a May session it is before July 5. Up to six destinations worldwide can be selected, and an admissions service counts as one. The university then receives the official result through the IB's secure site or, where needed, a paper transcript. A candidate viewing results online does not itself send an official record to a university.

Write down the institution's exact recipient name, campus, application identifier and deadline before telling your coordinator where to send results. A similarly named campus or an outdated programme can delay matching. If a university asks for a transcript after the pre-release stage, use the IB's post-results request service and check any current fee. Ask the recipient whether it can receive an electronic IB transcript and how long it takes to attach it to an application. Keep proof of your request and the date it was made. If the application is conditional and the deadline is close, communicate with admissions rather than assuming that a requested transcript has already been processed.

Students in Dubai often apply to institutions with different calendars. One offer may require the total score; another may specify particular HL grades or completion of the diploma. Prepare a one-page comparison before result day so you can act without interpreting the offer for the first time under pressure. The IB to GPA calculator can be useful for an informal comparison, but it is not an official transcript conversion. Only the receiving university can tell you how it treats IB results for its own admissions or placement policy.

Planning Ahead for the May 2027 IB Cycle

The IB's current public exam-schedule list includes the final November 2026 PDF but does not yet list a final May 2027 subject PDF. Do not copy subject dates from May 2026 into a 2027 calendar. Begin with your school coordinator's teaching, internal assessment and mock-exam milestones, and update your subject timetable once the IB publishes the official next-session document. Because IB examinations can occupy several weeks, leave space around any external admissions test you are considering. Use the verified SAT dates and ACT dates as separate calendars; neither changes an IB paper date.

Do not let the annual July 6 result date become the only focus. The work that matters earlier includes subject revision, internal assessments, Extended Essay completion and TOK requirements. A useful weekly plan allocates time by subject need rather than giving every HL and SL paper the same hours. After a practice paper, record the mark scheme point you missed and the reason: knowledge gap, imprecise explanation, time management or misreading. Then revisit that skill. A plan based on specific errors is more useful than a countdown that only says how many days remain.

Understand the limits of preliminary scores. Predicted grades, mock results and calculators can help with planning, but the IB decides final grades after assessment and quality checks. Future grade boundaries are not known in advance. A conditional university offer should be treated literally: know its total, subject and diploma requirements, the accepted session and the reporting deadline. If you are taking both IB and AP courses, check the AP result-day guide for that programme's separate May 2027 exam schedule and July 2027 score-release window.

Questions That Matter More Than a Countdown

Will everyone see November results at the same time? No. Schools receive results on December 16 from 9:00 p.m. GMT, and candidate access is staggered by time zone. Your own release time should come from the school-issued PIN report, your candidate Results tab or the coordinator. A screenshot from another country does not establish that your portal is late.

Can I ask IB directly for a re-mark? The coordinator must place an Enquiry Upon Results on the candidate's behalf. Ask what category applies, the fee, the deadline and the chance that the grade could go down. If a university decision depends on the outcome, ask the institution how it handles a pending enquiry. Do not assume a re-mark is a guaranteed grade increase.

Does a total of 24 automatically mean a diploma? No. The IB sets additional conditions, and course results are distinct from an awarded diploma. Check the actual award status and all required subject and core conditions. A candidate with a higher point total can still miss a condition, while a university may also have requirements above the IB minimum.

Are May 2027 exam dates confirmed? The IB's public exam-schedule page checked for this update does not yet link a final May 2027 subject schedule. The annual May results rule is confirmed separately: candidate results from 12:00 GMT on July 6. Treat older exam PDFs as historical, and get the subject schedule from the IB and your school once it is published.

Using the November 2026 Subject Timetable Correctly

The November PDF is a final timetable for three IB exam zones, labelled A, B and C. It separates each paper into a morning or afternoon session and states the local start times for subzones. For example, some A-zone subzones start morning papers at 10:00, while others start at 9:30 or 9:00; afternoon start times likewise vary. This is why a generic online post saying that an IB paper “starts at 9 a.m.” is not enough. Your school knows its allocated zone and must tell you the exact reporting time. If you are changing schools, ask which schedule and zone the new school uses before making a travel or university plan.

Many subjects have more than one written paper on consecutive or nearby dates. A student might have Language A paper 1 on one day and paper 2 on another, or separate science papers in different sessions. A table listing only the first paper would therefore be incomplete. Read the full subject and level entry in the official PDF, then add every paper you personally take to a calendar. Include any oral, internal assessment or school submission date supplied by your coordinator as a separate school milestone. The IB says an exam cannot be rescheduled without its authorization; a personal clash should be raised with the coordinator immediately, not handled by arriving at a different session.

Use the published span in three layers. First block the full October 23–November 13 period so you avoid major travel or commitments that could conflict. Second enter your individual papers and reporting times from the school-issued timetable. Third plan revision backwards from the earliest paper, leaving recovery time between consecutive subjects. If you are also applying to universities, set transcript and document reminders for December rather than waiting until the December 16 school-results release. A student whose final IB assessment occurs in November may still have admission tasks due before seeing an official final score.

For a November retake, do not assume that a previous PIN or registration automatically carries forward. The IB explains that candidates registered across separate sessions can have separate PINs. Confirm eligibility, subject syllabus and school acceptance of retake candidates with a DP coordinator well ahead of the exam. The IB removed its old three-session restriction, but individual subject and school constraints still apply. If the purpose of retaking is to satisfy one university condition, ask that university whether it accepts the November session and when the new transcript must arrive. This prevents a technically valid retake from missing the admissions decision it was meant to help.

IB transcripts and university delivery

Before results are released

  • Submit transcript requests through your coordinator.
  • For May sessions, requests made before 5 July can cover the first six university destinations for free.
  • An admissions service such as UCAS counts as one request.

After results are released

  • Universities can receive results through the IB secure website or a paper transcript if required.
  • If you miss the free request stage, additional requests can still be made after results are published.
  • Contact your coordinator quickly if a conditional university offer depends on fast transcript delivery.

What to do if your IB result is lower than expected

Review the full report first

  • Check subject grades, not just the total.
  • Compare your results with any university conditions.
  • Look carefully at subjects that are close to a grade boundary.

Speak to your coordinator early

  • Ask about Enquiry Upon Results options where relevant.
  • Confirm transcript delivery to universities.
  • Notify admissions teams quickly if a conditional offer could be affected.

How students, teachers, and parents can use this page

This page is designed as a practical result-day reference for the whole support circle around an IB student. Students need clarity on timings and transcripts, teachers need a reliable advising reference, and parents need a calm guide to what the result actually changes.

For students

What matters most on result day

  • For a future May session, convert 6 July at 12:00 GMT to your local time; for November, use the school-issued release time.
  • Keep your coordinator-issued login details ready in advance.
  • Read the full result profile, not just the total score out of 45.
  • If a university offer depends on your result, check transcript delivery and contact admissions early if needed.
For teachers and coordinators

How to support students well

  • Use the confirmed IB timing and transcript rules here to keep communication accurate.
  • Help students interpret subject grades, core points, and diploma conditions together rather than focusing only on the headline total.
  • Be ready to advise on borderline cases, university conditions, and next-contact priorities after release.
  • Keep official IB sources close at hand for transcript and results-access questions.
For parents and families

How to be useful on IB result day

  • Focus first on access, timing, and university requirements rather than immediate judgment.
  • Give the student space to read the full result before starting a detailed discussion.
  • Remember that individual subject conditions can matter as much as the total points.
  • Use this page to organize practical next steps if a transcript, offer, or appeal-related conversation is needed.
Best use of this guide

Make result day less chaotic

The most helpful result-day page is not a directory of links. It is a clear reference that explains what is confirmed, what to check first, and what each person around the student should do next.

Helpful calculators and planning tools

These internal links are kept focused and practical, so the page still reads like an IB result-day guide while giving students, teachers, and parents direct access to the most useful calculators.
