How to use this energy resources practice quiz
- Answer before checking.Choose an option, then press Check Answer to record it. Use a hint when you need one; hint use is noted in your results.
- Explain the reasoning.Read the explanation after each answer. For calculations, use the supplied assumptions, distinguish power from energy and check unit conversions.
- Revisit weak topics.Review missed answers or questions marked for review. Retry the selection for a fresh attempt, then apply the ideas to new graphs and written questions.
Calculation check: Energy = power × time. Capacity factor = actual energy ÷ (rated power × time). Multiply sequential efficiencies, and compare environmental impacts using the same output units and life-cycle boundaries.
APES Unit 6 quiz FAQs
What does the APES Unit 6 quiz cover?
The quiz has 65 multiple-choice practice questions across all 13 Unit 6 topics, from renewable and nonrenewable resources to energy conservation. It covers energy consumption, fuel types and distribution, fossil fuels, nuclear power, biomass, solar, hydroelectricity, geothermal, hydrogen fuel cells and wind. Questions include applied scenarios, hypothetical data tables and calculations with supplied assumptions.
How much of the AP Environmental Science exam is Unit 6?
College Board assigns Unit 6: Energy Resources and Consumption a 10–15% weighting in the multiple-choice section. This independent practice quiz is not an official College Board exam.
What is the difference between capacity factor and energy efficiency?
Capacity factor compares actual generation over a period with the energy produced at continuous rated power over the same period. Conversion efficiency compares useful energy output with energy input. A 40% capacity factor does not mean a turbine converts 40% of the wind’s energy into electricity.
Can I see explanations and retry missed questions?
Each recorded answer reveals the correct option and explanation. View results to review missed questions, then use Retry this selection to clear those answers and start a new attempt. Questions marked for review create a separate study set. You can eliminate and restore choices before checking an answer.
How is the quiz score calculated?
Each correct answer earns one point. Answered accuracy uses only answered questions; the selection score uses all questions in that selection, including unanswered ones. Hints are counted separately without a points penalty. The score does not predict an AP grade.
Does my quiz progress save?
Answers, review marks, hints and timer progress save in this browser when local storage is available. They do not sync across devices. The optional 60-second practice timer pauses when this tab is hidden; it is not official exam timing.
