IDP publishes seat-level sessions rather than one fixed annual timetable. Its live Dubai booking page currently shows sessions from late September 2026 onward, including 27 and 28 September, with Academic, General Training and UKVI choices depending on centre. Seats and time slots can change at any time. Select your test type, delivery format, venue and date on the official finder before making plans. Outside Dubai, use the UAE-wide finder.

How to book with IDP

1. Open the official Dubai finder or UAE finder (both linked in the sources at the end).
2. Choose Academic, General Training, UKVI or Life Skills according to your receiving organisation's rules.
3. Filter by centre, computer delivery and Writing mode; compare available dates and seat prices.
4. Register with the exact name on the identity document you will bring. Follow the centre's document instructions; the original valid passport or Emirates ID used for booking may be required.
5. Review the centre, date, time, fee and cancellation terms before payment. Keep the confirmation email.

Results and retakes

IDP Dubai's session finder shows 1–5 days for IELTS on computer results. Allow extra time for any review or institution score delivery. One Skill Retake appears for eligible sessions, but you should confirm both centre availability and whether your university or visa authority accepts it before relying on that option.

Choosing a format

For currently listed UAE sessions, select computer with either Writing on Computer or, where offered, Writing on Paper. In the latter, Writing questions appear on screen and answers are handwritten. Fees differ. Traditional paper IELTS dates and 13-day result claims on older guides should not be used to plan a new UAE booking.

How to read the 2026 Dubai IELTS date finder

IELTS in Dubai is sold as individual sessions, not as one fixed global calendar. A date shown for Academic may not have General Training seats, and a centre showing a morning session may have no place in the afternoon. A location can also offer one writing mode without offering the other. The official IDP finder is therefore the only reliable place to confirm an upcoming bookable seat. Choose your test, city, centre and delivery option first; then read the dates displayed for that exact combination. A date mentioned in an article is a snapshot, never a reservation.

When you see an open session, record the day, local start time, full centre address, test type and format before paying. Check that the Speaking appointment is included in the booking details; its scheduling can differ from the other components. Keep the confirmation email and later admission instructions because those are your personal schedule. If a session vanishes during checkout, start the search again rather than assuming a saved screenshot guarantees a place. The date that matters for applications is not always the test day. The receiving university, regulator or immigration authority may require a result to arrive by its own deadline. Results can be delayed by exceptional checks, and electronic delivery to a recipient may take additional time. Work backward from the actual submission deadline, leave a buffer, then select an available session. Select the correct IELTS test before choosing a date

The first choice in a booking flow is the test that your receiving organisation accepts. IELTS Academic is commonly used for university admission and some professional registration. IELTS General Training is commonly used for migration, work and study below degree level. Both assess Listening and Speaking in the same way, while their Reading and Writing tasks differ. Do not assume that a strong score in one version can replace the other. Copy the exact test name from the university, licensing board or visa instructions and verify the required overall and individual skill bands.

IELTS for UKVI is a secure test for specified UK visa routes. The result may look similar to a standard IELTS score, but the booking must explicitly say IELTS for UKVI and be taken at an approved centre when your route requires that version. Life Skills is different again: it assesses Speaking and Listening for certain UK immigration purposes and gives a Pass or Fail result. It is not a substitute for a four-skill IELTS Academic or General Training score. If an application uses an unfamiliar test name, ask the receiving body which version it accepts before paying.

Make this a written checklist: purpose, accepted test name, required minimum overall band, each component minimum, result expiry rule, submission method and deadline. A single session can serve several applications only when all accept that test type and the result remains valid for each deadline. Computer delivery and the 2026 Writing on Paper choice

IELTS announced a transition away from the traditional paper-based four-skill test beginning in mid-2026, with rollout timing varying by market. On a computer test, practise reading long passages on a screen, scrolling between questions, typing essays with a timer and using headphones as directed in the official practice environment. Also confirm whether your Speaking test is face to face at the centre and check its assigned appointment rather than assuming it occurs at the same minute as Listening.

Fees: what the Dubai price table means

The UAE prices above are a dated snapshot of the amounts previously displayed by IDP, and the final checkout price for your selected session takes priority. Different test products have different fees. A standard Academic booking, an IELTS for UKVI booking, Life Skills and One Skill Retake should not be treated as interchangeable purchases. Writing mode can also affect the quoted amount. When budgeting, include travel, potential rescheduling charges and the cost of another test if your application timeline leaves little room for improvement.

Before payment, read the refund and transfer terms associated with your centre and booking. Policies can depend on how close the test date is and why a candidate asks for a change. Do not rely on a broad promise in an old blog post. Take a screenshot of the final test name, venue, date, time and price, then save the confirmation receipt. If you do not receive a confirmation, check your IDP account and contact the test provider before making a duplicate purchase. For an employer or sponsor paying, obtain the correct invoice details before checkout.

A useful comparison is total cost to a valid application, not merely the cheapest listed seat. A lower fee at a remote centre may be offset by transport, missed work or an awkward result date. Booking step by step without a registration error

Start with the exact test requirement, then open the official live finder listed at the end of this guide. Set the country and city, choose the correct test type, and review the offered centre, delivery mode, fee and available sessions. Avoid selecting a convenient date before verifying the test name. If you need IELTS for UKVI, make sure that phrase appears in the product description; a regular Academic seat at the same building may not satisfy a secure visa requirement.

Enter your name in the same order and spelling as the identity document you will present. Follow the booking service's current instructions for acceptable ID, document number and validity; requirements can differ by location and test. Check date of birth, email and mobile number because appointment updates and result access may depend on them. Use an email account you can open after the test. If an ID number or name is wrong, contact the centre promptly rather than hoping staff will correct it on test day.

How long do IELTS results take?

IELTS says computer-test results are generally available in 1–5 days. That is a usual service window, not a guaranteed hour of release. IELTS Online and Life Skills have different stated timelines, and test results can occasionally take longer. In your account you may see an electronic Test Report Form, while some destinations require direct delivery from IELTS. Read the recipient's rules on score submission rather than assuming a screenshot of a results page is sufficient.

Back-plan with two dates: the earliest day you could receive a normal result and the last day the recipient will accept a verified score. Leave additional time for any exceptional review, account issue or recipient processing. If the deadline is very close, ask the receiving body what counts as on-time: taking the test, receiving a result, or having the result delivered to its system. A deadline described only as 'late October' should be clarified before you spend money on a September or October session.

IELTS recommends that results demonstrate current ability for a maximum of two years, though each receiving organisation sets its own acceptance policy. Count from the test date unless the recipient instructs otherwise, and check the expiry relative to the day your application will be assessed. A result from a previous application may save you a new test, but only if the test type, skill scores, age of result and delivery method all match the new requirements.

One Skill Retake: a useful option with conditions

One Skill Retake allows an eligible candidate to repeat Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking once after a full IELTS on computer test. IELTS says it must be completed within 60 days of the original test. The original test centre must offer the service, and availability of a retake session should be checked before relying on it. The retake is an extra paid appointment; it is not an automatic free correction of a score. Current UAE fees vary by product and writing mode, so check the actual checkout.

The key question is whether the institution, licensing body or immigration authority accepts One Skill Retake. Policies differ. Some recipients accept a combined result and others require all four scores from one original sitting. Ask directly and keep a written reply for high-stakes applications. Not every candidate needs eight weeks. Someone already at the required band may book sooner after confirming availability; someone far from the target may need longer. Improve each of the four skills deliberately

Listening: IELTS listening rewards exact comprehension under a single-pass time constraint. Practise identifying the kind of answer expected before the audio begins: a date, a place, a number or an opinion. Keep track of changes and corrections in a conversation rather than writing the first plausible phrase you hear. Review wrong answers by replaying the relevant portion and explaining the error. The most expensive mistake is choosing an available date before confirming the accepted test type. Next come identity mismatches, an unsuitable location, a result date too close to a deadline, and confusion between an advertised sample date and an actual seat.
