How to use this timetable correctly
A timetable is useful only when it is matched with your personal statement of entry. Follow these steps to avoid missing a paper, entering the wrong room or planning revision for the wrong date.
-
Match every unit code. Compare each code in the timetable with your statement of entry. For example, GCSE Mathematics Core and Extension papers have different unit codes, so do not rely only on the subject name.
-
Confirm your local start time. OxfordAQA publishes the exam start time in UK time. Your school or exam centre will confirm the actual local start time, room and arrival deadline.
-
Check clashes early. If two exams appear in the same session, tell your exams officer immediately. Centres have formal procedures for supervised breaks and clash management.
-
Plan revision by paper, not just by subject. Write the exact paper name, date and duration into your study calendar, then revise the content tested in that specific paper.
-
Recheck official updates. Before publishing or printing a final calendar, compare this guide with the official OxfordAQA timetable and your centre’s latest instructions.
Time conversion and planning formulas
These simple formulas help students convert the published UK start time and estimate when a paper may finish. They are planning tools only; your centre instructions remain final.
\[ T_{\text{local}} = T_{\text{UK}} + \Delta_{\text{timezone}} \]
Where \(T_{\text{local}}\) is your local start time, \(T_{\text{UK}}\) is the published UK start time, and \(\Delta_{\text{timezone}}\) is the time difference between your location and the UK on that exam date.
For the UAE during the May/June exam period, a practical planning estimate is: \[ 08{:}00_{\text{UK}} + 3\ \text{hours} = 11{:}00_{\text{UAE}} \]
\[ T_{\text{finish}} = T_{\text{start}} + D_{\text{exam}} \]
Where \(T_{\text{finish}}\) is the estimated finish time, \(T_{\text{start}}\) is the centre-confirmed start time, and \(D_{\text{exam}}\) is the exam duration. For example, if a 2-hour paper starts at \(11{:}00\), then: \[ 11{:}00 + 2\ \text{hours} = 13{:}00 \]
\[ B = \left\lceil \frac{R}{D} \right\rceil \]
Where \(B\) is the number of revision blocks needed per day, \(R\) is the number of remaining revision tasks for that paper, and \(D\) is the number of days left before the exam. The ceiling symbol \(\lceil \ \rceil\) means round up, because a partial task still needs a full study block.
